Second Semester Junior Year Grade SLIP

How much would getting straight B's my second semester junior year( with an otherwise straight A academic record) affect my chances of admission at Columbia and Georgetown? I have a medical excuse as well as reasonably okay EC's but from an academic perspective, does this completely ruin/diminish GREATLY my chances? People say that EC's count for a lot- but I think that factors in AFTER you look at the super amazing, perfect GPA students so with straight B's this semester, am I pretty much ruined, even after I've worked so hard?

I know you guys need more stats but simply from just looking at my gpa, a lot can be inferred. Like how a kid with a 3.0 won't get in over a kid with a 4.0( we're ruling out all the other factors that totally make admissions, work with me here). So just from having straight B's- is that like an OMG OH NO or could it be something overlooked in light of other things( illness, good EC's)

Would a high SAT score help me to offset this bloop?

Sounds like an early case of senioritis. Better get a blood test. GPA counts alot and if you dont have an excuse (ex. family death) then I hate to say but it really is your fault you are not getting A's and there is nothing you can do right now except study harder...a high SAT cant get you in but a low one can keep you out. Thats my view on SATs.
