I'm a junior living in Illinois heading into my 2nd semester exams. I have a perfect 4.00 unweighted GPA heading into these exams, but out of 6 classes, I am probably going to end up with a 3.4 for this semester (4 B's). My overall GPA will still be a 3.89, but how bad do all those B's look? My other stuff includes SAT I: 2260 and ACT: 34. I'm looking at Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Rice, Duke, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, UNC, and U of I as options. How badly will those B's affect how I look to colleges? (All the B's are in my hardest courses: Theology (hardest), Pre-Calculus, AP Spanish, AP US History)

May not be look at too well, I also experience not so well 2nd semester. Likewise in my past years, I now know my reasons of drop in grades/ grades increase due to my allergic reaction I found out I have and now trying to figure out what is causing it.

Anyone else?

I would say it is bad timing. Need screw ups to occur earlier. On the other hand stuff looks good so it may not matter as much. If you have an explanation for why they dropped that would be good. For some of those schools it should not be a super big deal, but their concern will be if it seems it is a trend.

Hola: Depending on other variables like ECs, you are fine for all those schools. I am assuming that your verbal and math scores were comfortably over 700.

My critical reading was a 690, but my Math was 800

It would be better if you could bring those grades up a little.
