Seeking a nomination?

Hi I am a junior in hs right now, and am determined to attend the naval academy. Are there any steps to seeking a nomination that I should be going about at this point? (I was accepted to USMA's summer seminar, still waiting on USAFA, and of course will be applying to USNA's) But USMA's summer seminar said that I should begin to seek a nomination, although after visiting my congressman's website it appeared that I should be doing this later. (Plus, I need to take the SAT which I will be taking for the first time in January).

Thanks!!!

Most MOCs don't want applications this early, so don't worry about it right now.

You could write a couple essay primers like I did, and then simply edit them so they fit the prompts. Saved me a lot of headache this year ;).

thanks you! definately will do on the primers

The time frame to contact your MOC would be Spring of your junior year...Apr-June is a good timeframe. While it will be too early for applications at that time, you can get info on your MOCs application process (most are on-line) as well as info on any upcoming Service Academy Info sessons that SOME MOCs offer (usually in early Sept, and usually to go over the nomination and nom application process).

Usually there is a rep at the MOC office that is in charge of service academy nominations, where you can inquire as to any information sessions offered. Mind you, there are no brownie points given for numerous inquiries, so don't be a pest...in fact, the expectation is that you will research the MOC application process on your own (it is available on-line)- but a call to find out about any info sessions would be OK-
