Seeking: ideas for interesting and/or transformative internship abroad

... but not necessarily teaching English, building schools, or bottle-feeding babies in orphanages at a hefty program cost.

Currently: sophomore at Harvard. No budget constraints (such is the benefit of travel grants), but it IS mid-February so I worry that a lot of deadlines have past. Any good ideas?

Details: My background is in political economy, activism, and journalism (directed mostly at US, sadly); I speak English, Chinese, and Spanish; I very much do not want to solely be doing office work / "new media" / communications databasing again -- the brain trust that is CC has never failed me before :)

I'm kind of confused - are you saying that you have not been able to come up with any ideas at this point, or do you just want to feed/hear from our own suggestions?

I'd like to hear your ideas.

1) Have you asked OCS for possibilities?
2) Cold-calling/emailing Harvard alumni in the fields you are interested in / working in the countries you are interested in / contacting Harvard Alumni clubs abroad?
3) Maybe USAID or branches of human rights organizations (i.e. Amnesty International) abroad?

Good luck!
