Seeking insights re: Tulane/Loyola-New Orleans and others given the following:

Background on my kiddo - a junior, high achiever, fairly social but does not necessarily give a “high” priority to big schools or greek life (though she is likely to rush). Her GPA and initial ACT score put her on the cusp but not in the middle of elite-land. She wants an urban school in the south but wants out of Alabama. Her loose interests are liberal artsy - psychology, journalism, languages, international studies. Thinking about eventual law school.

She also wants to visit (with some advice from Dad) UF, Eckerd, Texas, Duke and UNC. She liked Penn, Villanova not so much - but now is leaning against cold climate schools.

Anyone have experiences to share with the two schools I mentioned - or others that fit her (evolving) criteria?

Emory, Davidson, NCSU (though perhaps not for Liberal Arts), USC Columbia, Millsaps,

Texas and UNC are extremely difficult to get into from OOS.

If she likes college towns (such as UNC’s CH) there would be more possibilities.

Also Tulane, UMiami, Vandy, URichmond perhaps?

How important is money? Does she need financial aid? If she wants law school, then a less expensive under graduate program would be worth looking into. UMiami is pretty generous with aid.

Tulane sounds just about right for her. My D has a friend who is a sophomore there and loves it. He’s studying poli sci.The Tulane forum is pretty active here, so you may want to browse over there. New Orleans is a fabulous city.
