Seemingly missed the TAP deadline.. am I screwed?

I think I missed the TAP deadline, but I'm not entirely sure about this either. I've done some research online and for example, for the 2009-2010 academic year the deadline appeared to be June 30th 2010. Meaning that for the 2011-2012 academic year it should be June 30th 2012. That's what I thought at least, but maybe I'm completely wrong.

As a little background info, I received TAP last year and I'm a second year continuing student. When I tried to apply for TAP I got the message:

"The deadline to apply for New York State financial aid programs for the 2011-12 academic year was June 30, 2012."

That seems a little strange considering that I'm applying for the 2012-2013 academic year, unless their academic year is something different?

Something else I thought of is the fact that I just submitted FAFSA today (yes, I know, really late) and I know that TAP requires FAFSA, so I thought maybe the reason I don't have the option to apply for TAP 2012-2013 is just because my FAFSA hasn't been processed yet and that's why it only gives me the message saying the deadline has passed for 2011-2012?

Does anyone have any more information about this? If I don't get TAP I think I'm screwed and will be unable to attend university this semester so any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

IF you did not go directly to the TAP link when you completed the FAFSA, you will have to wait a couple of days, then go to the TAP website and file for TAP. Right now, you went to the TAP website and it has not record of your 2012-2013 FAFSA, so you will have to wait a couple of days to do that.

Contact your school’s financial aid office, let them know that you applied late and how you should proceed. The challenge is going to be that they are not going to have any TAP to apply to your bill next month. However, if you are eligible for TAP, it will eventually come through.

I left the page open and went back a few minutes and tried to click the link, but by then my session on the site had expired, is there no way to get it back?

Anyway, thanks a lot for you help.

here is the link, try again.

https://www.tapweb.org/totw/

your userid and pin are the same.

if it does not let you in or does not see a fafsa on file, for you, wait a couple of days, and log in again.

I’ve tried logging in through there already, I was just wonder if there was a way to get back that specific link at the end of the FAFSA submission (I’m assuming it’s setup in a way that informs HESC that you’ve just submitted it making it easier for you), but I’m pretty sure that it’s not possible.

Anyway thanks again, you’ve been a huge help and I really appreciate it. I’ve been stressing over this quite a bit but from this an other research it looks like I’m going to be okay now. Thanks again!

No, you can’t. you will just have to wait a couple of days, and then log in… Right now they have nothing for you because FAFSA has not connected with TAP yet.

You only get one opportunity; if you do not go to the TAP website, immediately after you submit the FAFSA, you have to wait a couple of days.

Wait until you get your SAR, back from from FAFSA (if you signed electronically) it should be a couple of days, then you will be fine to log in and complete the TAP.
