Seen any good movies lately?

I thought Glass Onion was starting to drag a tad, and then around the 1-hour (?) mark they started explaining everything. I enjoyed that. “Oh, yeah, now it makes sense…” was my thought. The end was awesome.

We liked Glass Onion. I found it easier to follow than Knives Out but I loved Knives Out too. I think maybe people had higher expectations after seeing such a fresh funny caper movies like KO.

IMHO it is not so much the mystery (let’s face it, both of them had plots bordering on absurd) as the ride you are on with the characters.

Funny cameos, throwaway lines, great fashion, it was an enjoyable escape!

That’s how I felt about it, too.

I didn’t realize till I read later who helped out with the music part of the puzzle.

We went to see Babylon. It was quite good, however, unnecessarily pornographic. They could have easily got the point across that they were trying to make without being so grotesque. Definitely not a family movie. If you can get through the first 15 minutes (we all expected my husband to walk out), it is an interesting tale of Hollywood. Apparently they think it’s going to be a flop, though. Reminds me of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which I liked much more.

I’ve seen headlines about Babylon coming in less than expected and wondered why. I’m glad you posted on here as I have no desire to watch movies that overdo the sex scenes. Ditto with way too much swearing (not sure that one applies here).

I’m looking forward to A Man Called Otto even though I suspect the trailers have told us the entire movie. It looks fun.

Ok we 3 went back to finish Glass Onion, while the 2nd half was “better” than the first (and we all laughed that we stopped exactly 45 seconds before the film perked up), we still did’t think it was that good. But we are glad we finished it.

Definitely graphically pornographic, makes the swearing seem minor in comparison. Still a very good movie for those who can get past it, but I’m thinking Babylon is not the movie for you!

I agree it’s not for us, especially when there are so many things we can watch vs time we have to watch them. Our DVR has over 200 shows taped that we found potentially interesting (from news to nature/travel to series we like), but we don’t watch stuff often even when we’re home.

We only go to the movies when I’m fairly certain we’re going to like something. Nothing is a guarantee, of course, but there are some huge turn offs that will drop a film from consideration. That’s one of them. Even if we thought we’d like the movie otherwise, we don’t want our $$ supporting that kind of filming. There are nicer (to us) ways to get the point across.

We watched Never Look Away and thought it was excellent. Supposedly fictional but reading up on it, almost everything in the movie really happened.

Elvis is now on Amazon Prime. We liked it a lot. The acting was amazing.

We watched Sing Street on Netflix tonight. Had not heard of it, but we noticed it was dropping of at end of the month. It was a mellow movie set in Dublin 1980s, with kids forming a band and making music video. Teen angst, family drama…. lots of music. A nice change of pace after trying to keep track of plot lines in Kaleidoscope.

I liked M3gan. I thought it was well done. I especially liked that no man rode to the rescue. The female protagonist created the problem and then she figured out what to do about it.

Our family loves this movie! It is a good family movie to watch with teens, and has good music too. It was being developed as a Broadway show, but I think was delayed due to the pandemic.

My problem with The Glass Onion is that it was so easy to know who the killer was. Knives Out kept you guessing. I kept waiting for a twist during The Glass Onion that never came.

We got a couple fairly recent movies from the library this afternoon. We watched Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris tonight and loved it.

We just saw Banshees of Inisherin and do not recommend it. It’s odd and depressing.

We needed something mindless and distracting last night and watched Ticket to Paradise with George Clooney and Julia Roberts. All I can say is they must have been swayed by the paycheck and the chance to do a movie in a gorgeous location. It was a snoozefest and you could easily predict the whole movie.

Luckily they have charisma and chemistry together, so it fit the bill for a mindless, pretty movie. .

Nah, it’s just different tastes in movies. H and I loved it so much that we took S and DIL to watch it when they visited us from Puerto Rico back in Nov. They were laughing as much as we did and we certainly didn’t mind watching it twice. It ranks up there as one of our favorite fun comedies - one we might actually buy at some point.

Whether the reader will like it or not likely depends upon how much they tend to side with your view or mine on movies.
