Is your major really important in your selection process. say someone who is average but applies for a weak major does that help you get in. My question is does your major affect your outcome and if it can help to get in by choosing a weak major or undeclared when to do it. Like for Ucla and USC alot of people tell me to pick a weak major and not undeclared.

I think this would vary greatly depending on the college we're talking about. In one of my schools, we have to reapply for our major after 2 years of a general science curriculum. In that case, I don't think they'd be as selective with students, because there's no real commitment or promise that you'd get your major.

In my other school, once you get your major, you're basically in. In that case, it's a much bigger deal, and as long as you don't flunk out, you're guaranteed a degree in your major. Since it's a great commitment in this school, I think they'd be more selective.

I've heard you're a shoe in for Brown if you say you're going to be Egyptology, only American university with that as a formal major.

Brown is also the school with tangerine trees and marmalade skies. Bunnies and rainbows galore I say!

P.S. ^^ Egyptology is just archaeology centered only on Ancient Egypt, with a slight language component because you learn to read hieroglyphs.
