It’s a great rivalry, no doubt.
My son got his answer from Hutton yesterday, it’s a no to the scholarship. Would have been nice, but IU has treated him well so no complaints here! : )
@Bigmacattack. Sounds like our kids have similar interests. Feel free to message me if you ever want to “compare notes”. Best of luck…
Per the Kelly office today, if you haven’t heard yet about additional award dollars don’t count on it before you need to say you’re attending IU Kelly. They speak of their holistic approach in one sentence then the next imply it’s really about grades --4.0, 36 ACT. Even with what I’ve been awarded do I want to come out of college 50K in debt? No. Sorry Kelly, but exit stage left.
@College2B Given that you’re still spelling Kelley wrong, and seem unhappy with your 11k award, IUB may not be the place for you.
Coming away from a top ten B-school with 50k in debt when your starting salary is likely to be much higher than that coming out of Kelley does not seem too bad. The average undergrad debt in the US is around 35k.
Unfortunately IUB is a business like any other college. Their marketing is slick but you are correct that it is all about grades during admissions. They have achieved a high national ranking for Kelley and are now in a seller’s market. If I could find it again I would provide the link to a PPT where they brag internally about recruiting great students and maintaining high yields while cutting award levels. Had I started a year earlier, my own award would have been much higher.
Good luck to you in your decision.
@peterc96 what kind of stats did you have for Kelley Ace Program? Do you know very much about it?
@collegemom27 my son also got into the ACE Program- it is open to Kelley direct admits who are invited to apply. Involves completing an application and writing 2 essays. There are special speakers, trips and classes, and at the end of freshman year you get a “fast pass” into business honors program.
