I've taken the ACT twice in high school.
On the second ACT my English, math, and reading scores increased. My science reasoning score decreased.
When I report the ACT subsection scores on the Common App, do I just tell my highest scores (even if they're from different tests) or do I only report scores from one test?

Submit highest scores even if they’re from different tests, that is why each section has it’s own date.

I’ve never heard of anyone doing this…

What does that mean?

They allow you to specify a test date for each subscore that you’re reporting, so you, in effect are self-reporting a “Superscored” ACT, if a common-app college(s) superscore(s), you’ll benefit. The problem comes when you’ve only sent the college(s) your best ACT composite under the belief that even though the admissions people swear up-and-down that they only consider your highest composite, because of the nagging concern that they might think you lucked out with the 30-something composite, and will deny you based on looking at your first two 20-something composites, so you didn’t send them. Then they look at your self-reported common app ACT subscore from a date for which they don’t have the official set of scores, and think, hrrmmm, this applicant is being less than totally forthcoming with us. That’s not the kind of student we want here at Holier Than Thou University…

That’s a dilemma. I don’t quite know how to answer that.

I’m so confused with the self report option… What is it and why is an option? Why can’t college board/ act just send it in

@beth2014 IMO, the reason why the Self Report is an option is that not all schools require official transcripts of your standarized test scores. However, most do. Also, if something were to happen…lets say the ACT mess up the delivery of your scores, the admission counselors can refer to your self reported scores. (Although, they will still need the offical transcript of your ACT scores eventually).

Report your highest score in each section.

Report your highest composite score.

Hi I have a quick question = I understand that we report our highest subscores with their relevant dates, but for the ‘highest composite score’ section, is that an addition of the highest subscores that we listed, or is it referring to the highest composite score you officially received (in one sitting) ?

If you’re sending in scores for two sittings, you could put the highest subscores from both. But for schools who do not “superscore” act, that wont be necessary
I don’t have my writing score yet, but I need to self report my ACT, because it might arrive late to admissions. Should I maybe enter a score from my old test, or just put in a number which I think I will get and hope I was right?
Do not do this!
if you don’t have a writing score report the highest one you’ve got from the past
