Are you supposed to send your AP scores to all the schools you're applying to before you find out if you're accepted? If you can just self-report them, where would you do that (on the common app)?

Do that in the academic awards section.

This is what it says in the sat scores section:
(Please include any AP or IB scores in the Academic Honors area of the Academics section.)

Some supplements ask specifically for AP scores too. I wouldn't send official score reports since they're so expensive.

if self-reporting these scores in the academic honors area of the commonapp

could i just put my best scores, and leave out the 3 on ap chem i got?

Yes. But keep in mind that 3 on AP chem isn't a bad score unless you are planning to major in Chemistry. Everyone knows that this is a one shot, one day test and a low-ish pass doesn't mean you did poorly in the subject.

And, of course, if you passed 3 APs with scores of 3 or above, you earn the AP Scholar designation which is a nice additional academic honor. (Check out collegeboard.com for more info on this.)

I got a 3 in French but I put it in anyway because I figure that if I list the rest of my scores, the reader might wonder why I have AP French on my transcript but no test score. And then they make up wild scenarios.

o i see, good idea. evil admissions, they probably get a laugh at making up wild scenarios /joking
