Self Study AP Biology: To be or not to be?

I had a fabulous idea of self-studying for AP Biology. I think it is doable. Memorization is more like second nature for me. However, it is what is expected of me on the exam itself that worries me to panic. What if they ask of application, besides content? Maybe questions regarding chains or arrangements or how to evaluate something (sorry, my biology background really sucks :). I found the Campbell textbook too.

So, should I? And how, if any done this before?
