I want to take both AP Physics C courses, but my school district only offers AP Physics I and II. If I take AP Physics I and II would I be able to self study for Physics C, or is the info going to be completely irrelevant? (I heard that Physics C and I and II are the same concepts, just C is harder cause you use calculus to solve instead of algebra)
The topics for C Mech match Physics 1 and C E&M match Physics 2.
I honestly think that if you are a math person, Physics C Mech is easier than AP Physics 1. This is mainly because C is calculus based and the questions focus less on concept (also the curve is easier). If you are in AP Calc, I would recommend self studying C Mech if you have the time.
My kid took Physics B (the predecessor of 1 and 2) and self studied Mechanics. She felt she didn’t have enough time and background to do the E+M also. She found the physics B problems extremely easy but struggled a bit with the C level material. However she did get a 5 so I guess she learned it well ehough.
idk about what’s covered in physics 1 and 2 but I can assure you that it’s very hard to learn E&M by yourself. I had a hard enough time with a teacher, it’d probably be ridiculously time consuming to learn it by yourself.
