<p>I don't understand why students self-study APs. I mean, obviously, I get how the more AP scores are on your application the better, but colleges will still be able to look at your transcript and see that you didn't actually take that AP course in HS, so self-studying doesn't really count for rigor. So then why do people do it if colleges can just look at your transcript and see you didn't take the AP class? I mean, that's one of the biggest reasons I would take an AP class... because of the rigor and the fact that it looks good on a college app..</p>
<p>Because not every school offers AP classes, and students want to take the test(s) anyway?</p>
