I want to self-study AP Psychology. Since the exam is in three months I wonder if I'll be prepared.

I am NOT enrolled in an AP Psychology class, is it better to:
1.) Take the exam but fail
2.) Not take the exam at all

You should take practice tests and see if you can achieve a score of 3 or above, any of which will look very good for self studied ap exams. However, if you can’t, then it’s best to just not take the exam.

How about option 3?
Take the exam and pass?

Psychology is actually famous for not being one of the particularly difficult AP exams. I’m positive that with just one study guide (I have Princeton) you can pass without taking the class.

^agree with lemons8. I self studied it completely the weekend before the test; it’s not particularly a difficult exam, and I’m not genius either. I say start in April and study for a month, and you should then be able to receive a 5 easily.

I plan on self studying and then take practice exams to see if I pass. I was just wondering if I should still take the exam even if I fail my practice ones. Thanks for the advice!

If you don’t consistently score a three or above on the practices, don’t take the test. But as everyone’s said, psychology is known as one of the easier APs.

Real quick. If you plan on self-studying off a study guide like PR, would it be best to take notes or just read straight through. It will be tough for me since I have AP Chem too on the same day.

thinking about self-studying ap psych too, does anyone know the deadline for registering for the ap exam?

What I did was read the Barrons AP Psych book on Saturday and Sunday. I didn’t take the practice tests at the end (I was self studying AP Enviro as well…) and basically do all the questions they have at the end of each unit. No notes, no ‘official’ practice tests, no review (I have insane short term memory though).

I believe the deadline is early March, although you might want to check that.
