Self study Non-APs

Does anybody know where I can self-study Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Physics for free?

no. those classes need instruction. those are the fundamentals of later math, and you should def. have a teacher guiding you through it.

Thanks rachael but it only has alg. 1 im going to try it.

Definitely don’t study Algebra 2. Physics doesn’t seem like such a good idea either. However, you could probably self-study Algebra 1, it’s pretty simple and straightforward.

Don’t do physics until you’re at least at pre-calc level.

^You don’t need pre-cal. for physics. I took physics this year at the same time as Alg. 2. It was annoying, because all of the juniors and seniors already knew a bunch of formulas… but they’re definitely stuff that you can learn in the physics class itself!

^Try that.

Thanks AUGirl

I’m currently self studying ALG 2/Trig. Don’t know why everybody says you can’t do it.

Its really easy. At least, so far the only annoyance has been matrices.

Just get a textbook and anything you don’t understand from the text, look it up on youtube. There is bound to be a video on the topic.

^ I have to self-study Alg. 2/Trig.

We didn’t learn anything in my Alg. class this year. The non-honors class was ten chapters ahead of our honors class!

All we covered was stuff from Alg. 1… and even then we didn’t cover all of Alg. 1.

In my personal opinion, AlgI is easy easy to self study, AlgII might be a little bit more difficult
AlgII is like…the cornerstone for higher level math classes

any other alg 1 things… like a free online textbook with problems…

I disagree with sqdwfe. If you are going to study Algebra 2, find a decent distance learning program (from CTY or BYU from my experiences are pretty good). Go to one of the Algebra 2 teachers at your school (preferably one you know well) and tell them what you are doing and ask what book they use. Go to eBay, get the textbook. Go through the online course and refer to a REAL person if you need help or are struggling.

Then again if you haven’t even taken Algebra 1, I absolutely would NOT recommend self-studying these courses. And physics? At my school you have to be concurrently enrolled in Pre-Calc or higher… so I wouldn’t recommend that either.

I have studied Algebra 2 on my own and it definitely is possible. My 9th grade math teacher offered to meet with me once a week after school to kind of supervise that I am learning what I need to. Good luck.

Any body have any Alg 1 links or online textbooks?

Are online courses like CTY good for alg1? any other websites or free online textbooks?

justmathtutoring.com has a lot of good math videos going all the way into a little linear algebra

you can look up different concepts on YouTube…i don’t know of any whole courses or anything, but theirs some awesome videos that helped me through stuff my teacher didn’t explain well.

Just adding on to what someone said about Youtube- there are TONS of math videos on there.

For algebra 2 you can search “yay math” and there’s some goofy teacher but he explains things pretty well.
