Self-studying 5 ap's for year; can I expect 5's?

Psychology
US History
Biology
Chemistry
Calculus AB (Only have taken honors pre-calc)

My intentions are to transfer sophmore year to brown. With that in mind, I thought it would be helpful to self-study AP exams despite my weak IB scores. I will also have a private tutor review all the material for me-(3 days a week)- for about a year. Let me know if you have any experience and could give me advice. thanks.

No, you must be crazy. You think you're going to study them now, but you're going to have work for your regular classes. It's not even worth the pain.

By the way, pre-calculus usually precedes Calculus (hence the prefix "pre"), so the "only" seems kind of unnecessary.

Well, I took all of the classes above in IB subjects. I was just noting that I haven't taken IB calculus yet..

I read the Barron's book for Psychology for a few hours at Barnes and Noble the weekend before and got a 5 - so you can definitely get a 5 on the easy APs if you work. Calculus can work if you're good at conceptual math; biology if you're good at memorization. But for US History and AP Chem, you're crazy - AP chem is so thoroughly lab-based and you really need that part of the course to thoroughly understand it.

I 5'ed all those exams this year in addition to English, if that helps my credibility at all. The IB courses should help...if you're insistant upon self-studying, make sure to take a good look at the differences in curriculums.
