Self-Studying APs: Improving Your App

@ Part time -
How much time really depends on how independent you are at self-studying, and how much you like env sci and psych. Since these two are relatively "easy" self-study exams, you probably can do fine with just an hour or two per week, if you're good at self-study.

@ Camille -
llpitch's list is good. Adding to it:

US History - Giant AHAP Review Study Guide (to get to the download link see here: <a href="http://www.historyteacher.net/USQuizMainPage.htm)%5B/url%5D">http://www.historyteacher.net/USQuizMainPage.htm)</a>. He did a great job!
Phycology (I am self studying this one) - also PR is good enough for a 5.

I'm really into science and I plan to major in biology and I help my sister study for her psych class in college and thats when I took interest in that. Thanks for the list I'm gonna buy the books suggested this weekend. (The link to the history website you have doesn't work)

the link you posted is dead...

are there any other resources that you know, that can help me self-study

for world history, besides barrons?

Barrons is all you need for World History honestly.

But for other resources, oasis teaching an AP World class during the summer and here's the link to his class:

Index of /chrissu/Public/junction

It has pretty good study guides for some quick review. (If you don't want that posted oasis, just PM me to let me know and I'll edit or get someone to delete).

So glad this got stickied.
Well written, and very informative.

HAHA omg you big stalker llpitch. =p jk

Um, take a grain of salt with those study guides. Some aren't very well proofread (I typed most of them up late at night).

And for the APUSH link, just delete the parentheses at the end.

[url=<a href="http://www.historyteacher.net/USQuizMainPage.htm%5DUSQuizMainPAge%5B/url">http://www.historyteacher.net/USQuizMainPage.htm]USQuizMainPAge[/url</a>]</p>

lol nah I just read your MIT blog =O

oasis you r my hero. do u hav links for like physics and calc bc... stuff like that? sorry if im asking for too much lol

could I study APES solely with the smartypants guide? would I need to get an additional text book if I wanted a 5?

I just found out there's an AP Scholar Award for Canadians, which you can get by taking 5 AP exams and scoring at least 4s on them. How significant would winning this be? I think I read somewhere that only ~20 kids in Canada qualified for this award last year.

it sounds pretty easy. I say go for it!!!!!
i would if I was still canadian :(

The thing is I'll have to take all 5 AP exams this year, then, and I'd have to self-study at least 3 of them. You know how it is with the Canadian curriculum, they deliberately leave off material to be covered in grade 12. :p

^ Ohhhhhhhhhh Canadaaaaa

What's the relationship between Macroeconomics and Microeconomics? Is it possible/advisable to do both in one year?

Def do it at the same time... the power of both of them together of great and they complement each other....

didnt i respond to your other post haha

You could either use Barron's or the Smartypants Guide to study and make sure that you have common sense. :P

Is reading the Barron's study guides for AP Statistics and Psychology more than sufficient enough to get 5s on both AP tests?

an_enigma -- you're responding to my question, right?

yes partxtimexlovah.

Anyone have recommendations for Macro/Micro books? I'd rather learn the subject than simply study to get a 5, so textbooks are fine recommendations.

Thank you so much for making such an insightful post.
I have an important question, though. I noticed you listed music as one of the classes which are probably better studied with a teacher. AP music theory is not offered at my school, but is on this site I found (through google): AP Music Theory

This online class is pretty expensive (plus textbooks) and college credit is not guaranteed everywhere, but studying music is like studying math..having someone explaining it opens new doors. (I am aiming for a 5 here).

I could Try to study with a $90 book (which would give me less of a chance of getting a 5), or take this class and get ahead (even though I might still have to take the class in college). But since I am already behind, taking the course/exam will give me a solid understanding and background.

I have been contemplating on which option to choose, but the money and the risks that come with it being a random online class are seriously holding me back. Any suggestions?
