Self-Studying Calculus AB

I have the worst Calc. teacher. He's a new teacher & he has no idea what to do. Everyone that has him would agree with me. So basically he teaches a lesson in class & all of us would give each other the confuse look & then we go home & try to learn the lesson ourselves, because we, ap students, care about our grades. How do u guys self study Calculus? What books or prep books do u guys use? Videos? Basically what helped you guys earn a 4/5 on the calc exam because a lot of you ccers say that u guys self study ap exams & earn like 5's.....
Please give me tips & advices

Thanks :)

I am sorry I dont know what you should do because my schools AP calc teacher is amazing. I would try study groups or booklets

Buy “The Calculus Lifesaver” and use PatrickJMT’s videos as well
as your textbook. Good Luck (:

The old calc teacher at my school is amazing as well but he got promoted for the district’s head master in math or something like that…

So ■■■ :/

i know im stealing the thread but would you guys recommend self-studing Calc BC because the average grade in the class last year was a C- (best of best students in school) and i dont get along with the teacher (will have had him for 2 years next year when i plan to take calc bc)?

Calculus BC–best of best students. Ha, last years average was about a B for the best of best students.

To study for the AP test: Textbook, online videos, maybe a prep book just in case. Make sure you know the topics and just run through the problems until you get them right.

–I am against “studying” how to do the problems, but if you have to do it for the AP test and college credit, whatever. To be good at Calculus you have to be able to do problem types you’ve never seen before and figure it out on your own. You get skills to do so from math competitions and practice without using help :)

Ok thanks

I was just thinking because BC is simular to AB with more added on. And if it was worth not taking to save my GPA

Watch either KhanAcademy or PatrickJMT’s videos (or both) if you’re struggling with something. Both work great for me when I’m stuck on a concept.
