Self-studying for AP exams not offered at your school?

I've self-studied for the AP World History exam last year, and now I'm planning on doing it for a few more subjects. But what if the exam for a subject I'm studying isn't offered at my school? Do I go to another school to take it or what? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Talk to your AP Coordinator.

By CB rules, u can take any AP exam u are willing to pay for.

However, ur school will vary. Talk to ur AP coordinator and figure this out, the earlier in the year the better. At my school at least, they can accomadate the student, but they will now start charging a little extra for the proctoring of the exam (some $10 bucks more, maybe) if there are few students taking it. If ur school does not accomodate u, then u will probably have to find another test center.

Talk to your AP coordinator. I took two AP exams that my school didn’t offer, and my AP coordinator was very willing to order them.

BTW, I was the only one taking the exams.

Your school should order the test for you, just as long as you register and everything like you would do for a regular AP. My school was more than happy to do this for my Psych exam (I was the only one taking it) and my Human Geo exam (2 people taking it).
