Which books do u recommend

oh, i want to self study it next year too..i was wondering the same thing...

Lol, I'm thinking the same thing. Hopefully somebody'll answer and help us out :]

i looked at some old threads, and tonal harmony seems to be rather popular..but are there any "study" books for music theory, lik barrons/petersons/etc...??

I would reccomend Tonal Harmony, which covers the non-aural multiple choice material info as well as the info for Free response questions 5-7. While it provides more than the needed info for some sections of the exam (like seventh chords), it is very helpful for the exam. For the sight singing, i would suggest using the past sight sininging Questions from collegeboard. The best way to practice the aural sections is to purchase themost recently released AP exam, which is 2003. Thats how I prepared in school and
I got tow subscores of five.

@anamai: regrettably not, with the exception of the idiots guide to music theory.

is the idiots guide any good???

lol 10char

There's not really any PR/Barron's/similar AP Music Theory guides. I'd just suggest going to your local music store and buying guides on high-level music theory, getting your some thick books with worksheets, and working through them =/
