self-studying spanish

I am considering taking beginning spanish at my local community college, b/c I am a junior, but I do not have a foreign language yet.

However, I also was planning to take Web Design at the community college, and am afraid of the time commitment.

So, my question is should I try to self-study Spanish (if possible)? I would like to take the SAT subject test and/or AP's by my senior year.
Or should I just take both at the community college?

heh i would not have time to commute to and forth between community college and highschool
it would be impractical for me considering the logistics of it

oh uh, i would be taking them online

sure if you have your mind set on doing it
but don't drop it or anything once you're committed
that would be a terrible mistake

i just want to know if it is possible to self-study spanish, or would it be better to take a real course..

of course it's possible!
you can teach yourself anything
it just takes diligence and determination

It is possible, but it is very difficult to get correct pronunciation, correct grammar, and it's very hard to be corrected if you are teaching yourself. It is possible, but very difficult. Good luck :).

does anyone know of any spanish text books to start out with to self-study?
