Does anybody know if I can sell used books back to the CalStore? If so, how much do they usually pay? Let's say I bought a book for $60 on August.

i’ve heard people say ned’s has a better buy-back %. but idk, i always keep my useless books forever :

i bought a $52 textbook from neds frosh year for a cog sci class and we used 1 page the whole semester.

neds offered to buy it from me for $1. i told them where they could shove their generosity.

the end.

lol, think about it as a 2% discount… ><;

maybe the best selling option would be to sell it to freshmen on craigslist?
*shrugs

You can try comegetused.com. It’s specifically for Berkeley students but it always seems to have website issues.

If you don’t wanna bother with the ebay/comegetused stuff, Amazon.com may buy it from you. Won’t be as great of a return as you might get with ebay/comegetused but WAY more than calstore/ned’s.

I bought a $60 book from Amazon and sold it to Ned’s for $46. Pretty good deal.

Yeah, both the Cal student store and Ned’s offer you very little. I sold back about 10 books (novels) and got $14 for it, though you’ll have better luck with hardcover textbooks for core classes.

If you just want to get rid of your books, sell it back to either store. If not, then sell it to a friend or Amazon.

I’ve sold books for profit on Amazon and Half even after their ridiculous commissions (15% usually + $1 or two for listing fees). The best times to list are obviously December - January and May - August. You get sales most in January and July up until late August/early September. That’s also when you get the best prices.
