seminars

Hmm. can any other attending students help me out here. Whats up with seminars.

1.) We have to take a Writing seminar, right?

2.) What about these other seminars? Do they count the same as a regular class like those listed in the course register?

thanks.

yes u have to take a writing seminar... it satisfies ur writing requirement. it is highly recommended u take ur writing seminar out of the way freshman year. As for the other seminars (the freshman ones i assume?), those count for different things. You have to check if it can be used for any of the general requirements.

i would also recommend getting done with the writing class freshman year...although they're easy, most are a lot of work. They are also limited to 10-12 students per class, so they fill up quickly. FReshman seminars are also really good...although they are not compulsory, I would strongly recommend taking one...they are also very small, and generally interesting (unlike the writing classes), and are a very good chance to get to know a professor. This is kinda important, since it isn't easy to get to know your prof in an intro class of 200. hope this helped;)

I would recommend taking a writing class during freshman year because otherwise you will probably be bored taking class with a load of freshmen. Definitely don't wait until you're a senior and have to take any writing class with empty slots.
I'd also recommend taking a freshman seminar, although they're not always restricted to freshmen (especially during spring semester I think). Some lecture classes also have freshmen only recitations, which can be good too.
