I haven’t seen this addressed here but senate bill 2500 was signed by Gov Scott on June 2nd!!!
Unless I i am sorely mistaken, the highest level award (Fas) in Bright Futures will be increasing to full tuition + $300 a semester for books beginning fall 17 !!!
Do you know if FMS has increased as well?
Sorry but I think it is only FAS. You can look up senate bill 374 and check the wording to make sure. Sorry I’m not sure.

"Bright Futures
Students who earn the top Bright Futures scholarships are in for a windfall this coming year, receiving twice as much money as expected. But there’s no guarantee it will be there for future years.
This school year, the state will cover the full cost of tuition and fees for students receiving the Academic Scholars award, the top Bright Futures scholarship. In the past, the scholarship has covered only half of the costs. Students must have an A average in high school and receive a 1290 on the SAT or a 29 on the ACT.
The Legislature passed a higher education bill that would make this permanent, but Gov. Rick Scott vetoed it because he disliked other parts of the bill. Still, since it was included in the budget it will be in effect 2017-18. The Legislature must pass a bill next year to make it permanent or the scholarships will return to the old amounts in the fall of 2018."
@TappyGee I’m not sure how they’re going to do it… It looks like they want to give 2017-2018 students the money, but they can’t figure out how, even though it is in the budget.
