I am interested in applying for the senate page program summer session II for this summer but the senators in IL do not nominate any pages for the summer sessions. Any ideas on what I should do? Could I apply through a different senator?
Please Help!

Bumpppppp!

Yes, you can apply through other senators. It is extraordinarily difficult to do so–you need to be a very compelling candidate to compete with a senator’s own constituents–but I have known people who were successful in doing so. If you look back in some of the threads here re: Senate Page, there are several people who talk about successfully applying through other senators than their own. You might want to contact some of them to ask how they did so. Good Luck!

I think it’s too late to apply for the summer sessions. Most of the deadlines have passed for all the senators. The only one i’ve found is Susan Collins from Maine. But her deadline is this Friday so that’s a bit of a stretch as well and her application requires three letters of recommendation. Any other ones that you find are usually ones that have residency in the state as one of the requirements.

If you’re currently a sophomore, you can still apply for next year though!

Hi! I’m a current sophomore from Utah. I am interested in applying for the spring 2015 session or summer 2015. I’ve already contacted my senator (Hatch) and he will be sponsoring a page. But I’m worried that I don’t have enough extra-curriculars (most of mine are from previous years and I haven’t done anything to display my interest in government because I didn’t hear about this program until recently).
I have straight A’s (4.0 GPA) and I’m in Pre Calculus, honors US history and honors English. What are my chances? And would another senator accept me if I applied to a different state?
Also for any previous pages. What is the residence hall like? Like what’s the atmosphere and what do you do in free time and on weekends. And what is the school like?
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!
