On my USAFA page, it now says Nomination Received, Source: Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. It seemed so early to get one from a senator, so I called the academy office to confirm it, and yep, I got it. I also got one from my congressman, which the academy has yet to receive.

My question is, did anyone else hear from a senator yet?

Also, how many nominations does each senator give out, and you many usually apply?

I don't think this is exceptionally early to be hearing from them. I think I had my senator's nom by this time last year. As far as numbers go, I don't remember exactly what the statistics look like, but I'm sure someone here knows.

S received word his was nominated by Sen Dole last week. He also has an interview with our other Sen next week. We heard from Sen Dole's military affairs staff member that she had over 350 aplicants for nominations this year. Congats on getting your Sen's nom, it's a great accomplishment to be recognized as one of the best in your state!

Each Senator and MOC can nominate up to 10 individuals for each slot they have at a SA. They are allowed 5 slots at each SA (i.e. maybe they have 2 Seniors, 1 Junior, 1 Sophomore, and one freshman currently in the USAFA that used their nomination. That means they have two slots available for next year's class (replacing the two graduating Seniors).)

I didn't realize that some senators did it that early. But can anyone answer my other question on how many apply and get a nomination from senators?

Well that varies by state. For example a state like California would have a lot more applicants than somewhere like Missouri. So in California they can have 500 hundred people applying to two senators and in missouri they can have 100 apply for those same 20 spots in their state. So the state's population is an important factor. One of more distinguished posters will elaborate I'm sure : ).

I remember receiving Senator Cornyn's nomination in mid November back in 2005. Texas probably has between 500-1000 requests as I'm sure California is comparable.
