Send ACT scores?

After getting my SAT scores back today I am very pleased. I got a 2190, which was a lot better than I thought I would get. But now that my score has gotten significantly better (originally 2060), I don't know whether or not I should send ACT scores to colleges that don't require them along with my SAT. I got a 31 on the ACT when I took it April of this year; is that better, worse, or about the same compared to my score on the SAT? Would sending my ACT score, if it is worse, hurt my chances of getting in? I am applying mostly to UC's and CSU's, and possibly USC. Any answers would be appreciated.

bump..........

bump.........

what's the 2190 breakdown?

Math - 790
Reading - 660
Writing - 740

I don't remember my exact ACT composite, but it's probably similar to to how my SAT breakdown looks: high math, good writing, decent reading and science.

Don't send the ACT, iirc, a 32 on the old ACT was about equivalent to a 1400 on the old SAT. someone check my facts on this but I think your SAT is higher.

send both the ACT and the SAT. Although it would be perfectly fine just to send your SAT scores since they are good for all your schools (maybe the reading could be 700~), the ACT just shows that you took the time to take both tests and overall did very well (a 31 is a great score, usually anything from 31-36 is considered the same if the subscores for each of the sections were relatively uniformely distributed). So yeah, my overall advice is to send both test scores.

The GC at our kids' HS suggested just sending SATs because all the schools my kid is applying to will prefer them & some would require the ACT + SATIIs anyway. The HS transcript lists the ACT scores anyway & he says if they really want his official ACT scores (which are similar to his SATs), they can ask him to have them sent. My kid's SAT was 2230 & ACT composite 34; best 3 SATIIs were 800-760. Saves us money to only send the SATs, so we'll go with his advice. I'd check to see what the schools you are applying to prefer (sometimes the GC can offer advice on this point, even if it SAYS schools will take either).

Maybe this will help out in evaluating what I should do:
ACT Scores:
Essay (Writing): 9
English/Writing: 32
English: 34
Math: 33
Reading: 29
Science: 28
Composite: 31

Not quite how I remembered them. No clue how or why I scored higher in English than in math, but that's my score. Does this help/change anything?

definitely send everything including ACT scores, those scores are great.

OK thanks for the help. Does anyone else have any input?

bump..........

bump...anyone else have something to say?

Bump...I'd like more opinions if possible.

a 31 ACT converts to a 1380 SAT M+V (though this is for the old SAT i think) That being said, I'd probably send the SAT (mainly so I wouldn't have to pay another million $ for sending scores), but both scores are really good.

I don't really mind paying the extra money, even though it is kind of a pain. Basically, what I'd really like to know is if sending my ACT score, which apparently is slightly lower than my SAT, would hurt my chances. Would colleges look at this and say, "Wow, what a nice SAT score; too bad his ACT score doesn't quite measure up to it." or would it be more like "Wow this kid did great on both tests."?

bump.....anybody?

bump.............

I can send a couple apps if I could get a couple more responses...

All right now, I know there is somebody out there with some advice...
