Sending Addition things in the Application?

Hi I was just wondering how much of a difference it makes if you send a portfolio if you were into photography/art, or a CD if you're a musician, or a video of you playing a certain sport
to a school?

I'm thinking of sending some things to schools but I'm not sure if it'll make such a big difference.

Thanks just curious!

If you excel at whatever you send them, then by all means, go ahead, and dont only send it to the ao, but in addition, to the relevant person (coach, director of choir, head of the art department) with a note saying " I have applied to your school, and have a tremendous passion for ______ and am sending you an example". Dont send something just to send it in, and especially dont send several different things as you will be perceived as someone spreading yourself too thin.

I agree with mhmm in saying you shouldn’t send several things. Keep it simple. For example, to one school I submitted a film I created over summer vacation because I aspire to be a film director and was really interested in the photography department. Mention your passion to your interviewer (that is if you have yet to interview). Include a letter with your submission explaining your passion and how you hope this will help them understand you better, ect.

I believe it could be very possitive in your application! Good luck :)
