Does this help you in any way, especially in regular decision?

no advantage whatsoever

It may not help for admission but perhaps for placement. A friend's daughter applied on the last possible day to our state flagship univ. She was told that had she applied earlier she would have been offered a space in the Honor's Program.

It is a definite help if you are applying to a school with rolling admissions and do not need to worry about raising your gpa with first semester grades. Several students at our high school have already received acceptances to Indiana and Colorado.

it depends, if it is rolling admissions, i was told i should have it in already haha

One way it may help is in the odd situation where the school you're applying offers interviews. If you apply early enough, the volunteers who do the interviewing have more time to coordinate with you. If you apply later in the season, you might miss out, especially in areas that are underserved.

However, know that most schools' interviews are not required. But they can serve as a boost occasionally.
