Hi everyone! When I checked my financial aid portal, I saw that Wellesley required me to send in their asset verification worksheet and upload it onto IDOC, so I was wondering if other colleges could see the stuff I want to only send to Wellesley (since the asset verification sheet clearly has Wellesley’s logo all over it) and I’m a little worried about every single college knowing that I’ve applied to Wellesley.
Basically – do all colleges that I’ve added on IDOC see every single document that I upload? Or is there some kind of filtering process?
Wellesley isn’t requesting this extra stuff through CollegeBoard since it’s not showing up my IDOC dashboard, so I don’t know how CollegeBoard would automatically sort it out.
I’m probably just overthinking things though… do colleges even care if they know I’m applying for aid at Wellesley?
I cannot speak on behalf of IDOC. But I feel you can trust the organization keeping the privacy of applicants. They have dealt with this type of requests for years.
Just about EVERYONE who applies to a highly selective school like Wellesley will apply somewhere else as well. For many, Wellesley will be their first choice, but for many others, they may hold out hope for Ivies, etc.
I am not sure what your concern is about colleges potentially finding out that you’ve applied for financial aid at Wellesley. Are you worried that some of these other schools are not “need blind” in their admissions, and will somehow use this against you?
If you need FA, you need FA. There is no shame in this. Schools at Wellesley’s level are need blind and they are happy to meet full student need.
@Junerain @3puppies Thanks for the advice! I was feeling frazzled at the time so I started stressing over the silliest things but seeing someone else explain it reasonably is really reassuring.
btw, does the financial aid checklist exist at the beginning? (I mean the time you can access to your application checklist.) I remembered when I checked the portal in Feb, there was not a financial aid checklist out there. But I checked it again today, it had one. (Maybe I am mistaking it since I don’t check it regularly.)
@yaluyalu no, I don’t think I had the checklist until a few days after my portal was set up
Hey @microdrop18 I had the exact same concern that you did, but I sent the worksheet anyway. No school is expecting you to apply to ONLY one school, so it doesn’t matter if the other schools see the form. And considering Wellesley asked you to do it in the IDOC, and they’ve done this in years prior, it probably means that it should be totally fine. Good luck with everything!
