Sending in multiple scores?

I received a 36 composite on the ACT in october. However, my state requires state wide act testing, so I had to retake the ACT again recently. I got my scores back recently, and I received another 36. My subscores or my writing score did not change. Would it be advantageous for me to send in both these scores to competitive colleges like UChicago, Northwestern, Duke, Cornell, etc?

It’s unlikely that they’ll care or see it as a significant plus… but they probably won’t penalize you for it either. If you’re worried that it’ll look odd on your application, you could ask your guidance counselor to briefly address it in his/her letter of rec.

Schools are looking for reasons to admit you, not eliminate you, and I’m sure they are aware that certain states have mandatory ACT/SAT testing - so they aren’t going to look at you funny. Once you are in the highest academic bucket, so to speak, you won’t be removed and there is no higher one. And they also know that no one gets a 36 by accident - you don’t fail up. So submitting won’t gain you anything and it won’t hurt you, it’s just an extra score.

^ The second attempt was a state mandated test no matter you have time or something else to do or not.

@lampglove‌: FYI, Duke REQUIRES the submission of all ACT (plus writing) scores, or all SAT I results, for all tests taken during high school.
