On their site, it says that, “The Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT Reasoning Test) or American College Test (ACT) with writing is required of all applicants. Two SAT Subject Test scores are required of all applicants to the Honors Program in Medical Education, and three SAT Subject Test scores are required for the Integrated Science Program. The SAT Subject Test is recommended for all other applicants. Higher SAT Subject Test scores tend to offset lower SAT Reasoning Test or ACT results.”
So they do consider SAT subjects tests, but not having them won’t hurt you.

Based on the link of the common data set Sam Lee posted, it seems as though they look at the English and Math Sections of the ACT more so than the Reading and Science…
I hope that’s the case…

I have that CDS memorized. Unfortunately, that only goes up to the Class of 2012.

And, yes, if NU looks more at English and Math more than Science and Reading, then I’m easily beyond their 75th percentile. Unfortunately, I think they only care about the composite score unless you’re an on-the-fence applicant.

Have been told by three different admissions people at Northwestern that they ignore the SAT Writing score and use only the 1600 scale.

^ I hope that isn’t true… my writing score was pretty good. Maybe they at least take it into consideration?

It may just be a human thing, but to me, 2210 seems better than 1460 even when you’re on the other scale.

I got a bit of a giggle yesterday when I received an e-mail from the NU admissions department. It was one of those blanket wooing e-mails they send to students who give their e-mails on SAT/ACT/PLAN/PSAT forms. Waste of cyber-paper, yeah? =P

I applied ED. For others who applied ED, have you received any emails notifying you that your application is complete? It seems that NU takes a lot of time to determine completeness. By comparison, Wash U, which I applied to RD, let me know already that my application is complete. Also, the one time I called the Admissions Office to check on my application materials, they were not too warm and fuzzy.

I feel that Perididdle! =)

Agh. I want to know already. Just out of curiosity, where is every applying RD?

Boston University, George Washington U, Notre Dame :)

How do I contact NU with new information for my application, such as awards and honors won after the ED deadline?

According to admissions office status emails re completeness of ED applications going out today

Good Work, Sherlock! Hopefully, your information is correct. I’ll post if I receive the notice.

Received e-mail that my application is complete. Now the waiting begins…

We are pleased to inform you your early decision application to the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University for fall 2010 is now complete and under review. You will receive an admission decision by mid-December.

YESSSSSSSS!!!

=)!

thank goodness mine’s complete!
i love you NU

Mine is complete as well. Less than four weeks to go! @_@

Complete and under review! Yaaaay.

Now I KNOW they have it in their hands. Oh god, oh god, oh god…

Complete and under review for WCAS!!! Ahhhh!!! I can’t wait…I will either be extremely disappointed or extremely happy.

twenty five days!
