Hello! I am a Highschool junior and am also dual enrolled. When I apply to colleges this summer/fall, do I have to send both Highschool and college transcripts in with my application? Do I also have to send both Highschool and college transcripts again at the end of my senior year before attending or no? Thanks.
Yes, send both when you are applying. If you take a college class in the second semester of your senior year, you will need to send it in addition to the high school transcript to the college you are attending.
Whenever a college you apply to as a frosh wants transcripts, send all high school and college transcripts that you have.
Some colleges you apply to as frosh want transcripts with application, and the final transcripts after you matriculate, so you would need to send each transcript once for each such college and again for the one you matriculate to.
Some other colleges have you self-report courses and grades, so you would not need to send transcripts on application (but you need to self-report courses and grades from all high schools and colleges attended and attending). If you matriculate to such a college, you need to send final transcripts from all high schools and colleges attended to that college.
It depends on if and how it shows up on the transcript your high school sends. All of my dual enrollment classes, whether they were taken on my high school campus or directly through a school with an actual professor, show up on my transcript with the exact course name. If your school is like this, go ahead and only have your HS transcript sent and worry about sending the college transcript only to your chosen college after you’ve committed and save yourself the $15 or so per transcript.
Send both.
Ask your high school guidance counselor how to send the transcript. My daughter is in her second year of full time dual enrollment. She applied to 8 schools and only needed to order 1 official college transcript. She gave it to the high school in a signed/sealed envelope from the college. The high school guidance counselor put it up on naviance. She has been accepted to 6 schools and the other two she hears from in March but say they have everything. One school called before winter break. They said they could see she was missing 1st quarter grades but based on her transcript assumed she was taking college classes. They said to get the grades up on naviance as soon as available which they knew would be mid January.
At the end of the first semester senior year when grades are finalized again my daughter ordered an official copy of the college transcript for her high school which is signed/sealed. Her guidance counselor will/did put this one up on naviance too. It also includes the classes she is signed up for spring semester. Then once the spring semester grades are finalized dd will order one last college transcript to get sent directly to the school she accepts. By just ordering one per semester she just pays for one each time. The high school dual enrollment grades on the high school transcript are not always given the exact names or accepted as is so check with your guidance counselor on that part. Our College transcript was $3.50.
