Sending Previous ACT Test Dates to Colleges?

Hey guys,

I took the ACT once in 9/2010 and once in 6/2010. On the September test date, I scored higher in each subsection (incl. the composite) EXCEPT the writing section, where I scored a 10 in comparison to June's 11.

My question is: Do I need to have ACT send the June date to all the colleges as well, and incur a fee of $10/college? I've self-reported the two testing dates on the Common Application, and put down "11" for the writing subscore, and indicated that it was from the 6/2010 date.

Colleges all seem to dance around the topic on their Undergraduate Admissions webpage. However, Stanford and Columbia seem to directly address it:

However, I'm also applying to Carnegie, Cornell, Brown, Duke, Harvard, Harvey Mudd, Princeton, & Yale. What should I do about these colleges? Should I send my June ACT score to them too, and incur the $10/college fee? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance!

You don’t need to put the score at all for Duke, Brown, or Cornell. It’s a requirement for Yale, I believe and I am uncertain for the rest.

Yale, an all scores college, allows you to send one official ACT test and report others in app. Princeton, Harvard, Brown and Duke accept score choice and allow you to withhold any scores you want to withhold, both SAT and ACT.

Cornell is ambiguous. It is an all scores school but says in one place that it wants all scores implying ACTs also but says in its official application instructions http://www.admissions.cornell.edu/forms/FreshmanApplicationLong.pdf</a> after saying it takes SAT or ACT that it wants all SAT scores but says nothing about all ACT scores. Based on that one could conclude it does not require you to spend a lot of money sending multiple ACT tests and because it is ambiguous it would have no basis to penalize you if you sent only one.

Harvey Mudd, unfortunately, requires you to send all scores including all ACTs, see page 17 of the following: http://www.hmc.edu/academicsclinicresearch/catalogue1/catalogue-10111/catalogue-1011.pdf</a>.

Carrnegie Mellon likewise requires you to send all offical ACT scores if you are relying on ACT, see page 3, par. 5 of http://www.cmu.edu/admission/forms/2011/apply_freshman.pdf</a></p>

On another page, Carnegie Mellon claims that non-junior and non-senior scores are unacceptable, contradicting its all-score policy. What is considered the start of being a junior is rather ambigious too.
