I've got two ACT test dates: Feb 2010 and Oct 2010. On the Feb 2010 test date, I scored lower than the Oct 2010 test date (for every subject). On the Common App, I self-reported both test dates. Question: To apply to schools, can I simply request that ACT send in my Oct 2010 test scores? This way I only pay $10/school, not $20 for the two reports. Is this acceptable/usually done by students?

Whether to submit both officially or just the better score depends on the policies of the colleges to which you are applying.

I happened to have Stanford’s testing page open, so I’ll duplicate its policy here:

As I read the policy, if you apply to Stanford, you must both self-report and send official scores for all ACT test dates unless this would pose a financial hardship.

In researching the requirements of each college, I’ve discovered other policies that vary by college, so it is important to check each website.
