When I sent my scores to Colby, I was aware that Colby wanted either the SAT or 3 SAT IIs. Since my SAT is fairly good, I sent that, but I also sent one subject test, since I received a very good score on said test. I thought that sending another score could only increase my chances of getting in. Now I am being informed by a friend that it was a bad idea to send that subject test, since it is technically an "extra" score, and the college did not ask for it. She claims that admissions usually looks down upon this (her example: Conn College dislikes the sending of extra scores, apparently?). Anyways, is my friend's claim valid? It's much too late now, but I'd like to know if I hurt my chances for admittance. I sent this subject test to all of my colleges, regardless of whether they asked for it--now I feel so stupid! I just don't understand how sending a good score could hurt my chances...it's not like I sent an extra essay or anything, and I wasn't trying to not follow colleges' instructions.

i think you will be fine. i sent in my ACT and SAT scores and 2 subject test scores. and I was obviously fine since i was accepted. i wouldnt worry about it

i think that you will be fine- it can’t hurt you to send a good score. I know that Conn College has a new test optional policy so that might be what your friend was referring to, but I don’ t think it will be a problem with Colby. Plus, i actually think that Colby used to recommend but not require submission of sat 2’s in addition to sats
