I’m taking the SAT I and 2x SAT II Subject Tests to apply for American universities later this year, and I’m planning on having high scores on these SATs (ex. 1500+ SAT I, 750+ SAT II). I can also send all three of these scores to a Canadian university for only $12, if I end up going to a school here.
If I submit these scores to a Canadian university, is there any benefit (like scholarships) in doing so? Like Dalhousie University?
@acomfysofa Normally I would agree with @TomSrOfBoston but my experience suggests differently, at least for U of T. I had 2 children apply to U of T, one in 2014 and one in 2016, both to the same residential college, same grades, similarly less selective programs (not comp sci/engineering/commerce), different high schools though. Both were accepted, but the student who sent in their 1%ile ACT score received $2000 from U of T in addition to an earlier acceptance to their residential college. The timing of the residential college acceptance was such that it was apparent that the student had been offered acceptance before the normal college review process.
For $12, I’d send them in. Canadian universities are mostly about the numbers. If you can send them additional excellent numbers, do so.
I’m curious, are there any Canadian scholarships (not just including those offered by universities) that consider SAT scores? I spent close to $700 on these SATs so it would be great to get some money back on them, if I end up going to a Canadian university!
@TomSrOfBoston I ended up getting a 1470 (780M/690RW) and a 19/24 essay. Planning on retaking the SAT in December, but I think with my ECs, it seems to be a good enough score for every university asides from HYP.
