I took 2 SAT Subject Tests in December, though I know I bombed one of them. I took Biology E, but I'm only halfway though AP Biology, and we've only covered molecular (stupid decision, I know, but I was told Bio E was easier).

I plan to retake both of them in January, and I'm wondering if Rice will accept these scores even though they're sent after the application deadline. I heard some colleges will take them if they haven't looked at your application yet. I know it's disadvantageous, but is it possible?

They say that the last applicable SAT test date is December 5. If you really want better scores, your best shot is to try to get in on the December 12 ACT. I know it’s a short notice, but it is the latest test date Rice says they will accept. Good luck!

I think the deadline for the December ACT has already passed, but thanks for the suggestion. It seems I have no choice but to send it. Is there any way I can provide an explanation for my horrible Biology score? Or would this be considered as making up excuses? (It really is a bad score…)

What if I were to send those scores but still retake it in January? (I know UPenn allows January retakes.)

And thanks for the info, wannabe2200, though I’m applying RD.

This regarding regular decision from the Rice website:

Last applicable SAT/SAT Subject test date:
December 5, 2009

You could call or email Rice admissions to ask for an exception, but your chances on admission really depend on the strength of the rest of your application: GPA, rigor of coursework, other test scores and ECs. Any particular reason you waited until your senior year to take AP bio?
