Sending Scores

Hi I am a junior in my High school and I would like to ask that would it do any better for me to send my scores to colleges I plan to attend? (even though I am still a junior).

It’s hard to answer your question without more details, for instance:

Which tests (ACT, SAT, Subject tests)?

Are you talking about sending free score reports?

Are you finished with all testing?

Do the colleges you’re thinking of sending scores to accept Score Choice?

I was thinking about the SAT Reasoning and SAT Subjects
and yes I was talking about sending free score reports.

quantum, you need to consider the last two questions I asked you as well.

If you’re done and satisfied with your scores, sure send them now, no problem.

If you’re taking additional Subject tests or trying to improve your SAT then the free score reports may not help you (eg. more Subject tests are required for a school, so you’ll have to send a Score report that includes those tests later anyway) and may hurt you (eg. a school permits Score Choice and you retake the SAT for the fourth time next year and do much better, but have already sent this Score report which shows lower scores).

This is not one-size-fits-all, you need to consider each school within the context of your testing situation.

That actually clarifies so much thanks again :)

You’re welcome!

I would add one more thing. When sending free Score reports, you don’t know what your current score is yet, so you might want to only send if you’re very confident that you did well; if you’re not sure, it might be prudent to wait to see the score first.

It also depends on how big a factor money is. Sending test scores does add up, but in the greater scheme of things, it’s a relatively small cost.
