Apparently our school chose this coming year to introduce all these new AP Courses, and now I have to choose my schedule. With a total of 7 slots, which of the following should I choose?

AP Stats
AP Physics C (already taking B right now, new class, wish I could have taken C right away and not B)
AP Spanish Language
AP English Lit
AP Gov/Econ
AP Bio
AP Computer Science A
AP Calculus BC

Should I take 7 AP Classes as a Senior? I know a few taking 6 already. Any input is greatly appreciated.

English, Spanish, Calculus, Physics - these I would say you should definitely take.
The other three are your preference, personally I would choose Gov/Econ, Comp Sci, and Bio but it’s what you like to do.

Well I am already taking the BC exam this year and I am fairly good at math, so I am expecting a high score, and if I do, is there any point in taking BC?

Don’t take the class if you’ve already taken the AP exam. That would be a waste of time. Personally, I would just choose one science class unless you’re really into science.

I don’t think you should. I honestly couldn’t.

If you absolutely had to drop one though, I’d say AP Spanish Language.
At my school, you have to read all these books in SPANISH; very very time-consuming.
(Even native speakers rarely pass the exam)
To me, foreign languages aren’t necessary unless you’re majoring in foreign languages or something like that.

I don’t know.
Think about it, you’ll be filling out all sorts of applications, working, etc.
I’d want to breathe every now and then.

Well I saw my counselor today, and I asked about my schedule.
I decided not to take BC since I am taking the BC exam this year, and I am concurrently enrolled in a Calculus II class at the local community college (equivalent to BC).

Problem is, if I get an A and decide to put that on my transcript, it is a regular 4.0 A even though it is a college course equal if not harder than BC.

So what should I do? Take BC for the easy honors point?

How does your school deal with community college classes- weighted or unweighted?

New material clearly will look better on your transcript than a rehash of a college class, not to mention it’d be freaking boring. IMO, all seven of those other AP’s contain interesting stuff.

Will your class rank even change in senior year before you apply to college? If not, the course weighting is immaterial.

If you are taking seven AP’s either way, wouldn’t the wieghting be the same whether or not you took BC?

7 APs is possible. That’s how many I’m taking right now, but I only recommend it if you think you can handle it. I agree with the others in saying that it is pretty pointless to take a class that you have already taken the AP exam for, depending on how you do on the exam. If you really want val, which is why I’m doing it, then it is not too unreasonable.

I don’t know if I can get into all those classes, the counselor said its hard for people to double up on math or science. I’m taking 3 science classes…so I have my doubts.

Bumping this up. I realized that there might be some classes conflicting, so two AP’s might be offered at the same period, but I hope the school administration tries to set the AP’s at certain periods so they DON"T overlap.
