Senior High School Schedule

dual enrollment is when a HS student ALSO takes classes at the local college AND gets credit for those college classes on his HS transcript.

Oh. Ok . Thank you for the clarification. I will ask my counselor if the school offers dual enrollment. Actually they said that the credit for courses at a CC won’t be put on my HS transcript. Is this a major problem? Can I just take the courses without putting them on my HS transcript and having a separate transcript for them?

what i worry about is how the colleges you will be applying to will view those college classes if they are not on your HS transcript.
you DONT want to be classified by ANY college as a transfer student!

It doesn’t matter if the courses are on your high school transcript. What you want, however, is to not be a degree seeking student at the college. This is usually the case if you are still in high school. Taking these courses shouldn’t cause any problem.

My high school did not put college courses on our high school transcript. This is actually what dual enrollment is. If you also get credit from your high school, that is dual credit and is not as factor in determining what your status is in terms of college application. Some colleges, however, like mine won’t grant transfer credit if the course was taken as dual credit (when you attend as a freshman). So, it’s actually better if they don’t appear on your high school transcript.

Now I am really confused by the opposition in the comments. What should I do?
Should I take the courses for non hs transcript or not?

You probably don’t have an option. You need to talk to your high school and see how they handle dual enrollment courses.

@Salutation I was on their website and they didn’t have a specific transfer definition. You haven’t graduated from high school and aren’t already a full-time CC student, so I doubt they would consider you a transfer. I recommend asking admissions about your question, so you can get a precise answer.
