Senior Pranks: The Good, Bad, and Ugly

I've seen some news reports lately about senior pranks. For all you high schoolers out there, especially seniors, were there any pranks at your school this year? If so, what were they and did they cause any problems for the school?

Yeah. This year’s was kinda lame. They put up a bunch of signs outside and around the school saying it’s going to be sold, and then zigzagged and tied string all over the place in the halls to slow down kids. It was pretty lame.

But the year before that…we had construction in one of our wings, so there was this huge gaping hole in the wall you could just walk in. So one night a group of kids broke in and proceeded to superglue every single lock that they could find within the school. The next morning they had to replace every single lock they hit, which ended up costing the school district some $7,000 or $200 per lock. They were pretty angry, but they never caught who did it…

C/O 2011 did the same thing at my school…My school is an outdoor school so they went to all the building and put gorilla glue in all the locks. Next morning all the classroom locks had to be drilled out and over a hundred doors had no locks. Ended costing the school board about $30,000 to fix all the locks. C/O 2012 didn’t do anything but draw male genitals on windows with car paint.

The Seniors organized for someone to pull the fire alarm and stayed backed in the school while all the other underclassman went outside. When it was time to come in, on main-street, (Our main hallway) the seniors were standing on the bridge (we have a bridge in our school connecting the Library and upstairs classrooms) and threw TONS of paper airplanes.

That’s a good idea. My school is outdoors so we have tons of balconies. We could throw thousands of paper airplanes from those. It’s not destructive and it’d be entertaining.

A few years ago the seniors took this big bell we have at our school and dropped it in the pool. Funny thing was it was swimmers that did it.

We had seniors a few years ago bring their dogs to school and let them in the classrooms. Then when class started there were a bunch of dogs in each classroom.

This year the seniors all skipped a day of school and went to the beach. My boyfriend came to school to see me. He was the only senior and he was given a free 100% on the physics quiz that day.

There were two senior pranks. One was to move the spirit rock (from across campus, mind you) in front of the doors of the main entrance. That was fairly humorous. And the other was to put crime-scene tape around the school, and totally block the entrances with it, which wasn’t really funny. And unlike the rock, the evidence of that prank was mostly gone by the time students arrived.

My favorite is the one from my sophomore year, where they turned the courtyard into a beach, complete with lounge chairs, beach balls, and sand. Then the participants had a beach party for about 5 minutes before it was broken up, then they were forced to stay after school for a few days cleaning it up.

This year, the seniors swapped places with the seniors at a neighboring high school. It was incredibly lame, especially since all of the teachers knew about it.

EDIT: Oh, but the second prank was decent. They stole the cow from a nearby Chick-Fil-A, dressed it up, and placed it under our flag pole at the front of the school.

Class of 2011 here was horrible. A bunch of guys had a (public) FB group called ‘Purps’ and one night they went out with purple spray paint and painted the parking signs and inappropriate things on the WINDOWS(!) of the school. Cost $5k to repair (and the sign is still covered in purple paint…) and the guys who did it had to pay for it and didn’t walk, and were nearly expelled.

Class of 2012 blocked the student lot for a breakfast cookout and charged $5 for any junior who wanted to park their car and wrote on their cars with that washable marker. I thought it was amusing but this year has been a huge parking war between the juniors and the seniors over lack of spots thanks to administration error, and just ended up ****ing people off. The cops came by and told them if they didn’t move their cars, they’d get towed away. Sigh.

Then, later that week, they laid out some plastic wrap or something and squirted oil on it and spread it across the freshman hallway. A couple of them slipped, but most of them avoided it. Administration was po’ed.

2010 had mannequins playing poker on the roof and in other odd places around the school, as well as lining the hallway to the cafeterias with bubble wrap right before break, so about half the school ended up traveling on it.

Our pranks are generally tasteless. I’m not exactly a ‘no fun allowed’ person, but I think some of them could have ended really, really bad (and one of them did; senior hit his own head on the ceiling and split his head open).

My seniors let lab mice loose around the school & set off 12 stink bombs.

Just this week,

5 or 6 pigmy goats were placed on an overhang of Southbury High School here in CT.

A local farmer had to be called in to help police get them down with a 10 or 12 foot ladder… its amazing that the little fellas were smart enough not to jump off…

They planted a bunch of baby trees on our football field. And by a bunch, I mean there were probably a thousand.

The principal got on the intercom the next morning and said that those who participated wouldn’t walk and would be arrested/sued for property defacement.

This is hilarious! Do all high schools do these things

…yes…Hopefully you have a set of students in your class that are quite ballsy and enjoy good humor.

Well I certainly enjoy goo humor

Class of 2012 was underwhelming. During a random passing period, 90% of the senior class just bum-rushed through the busiest hallways, causing some freshmen to get knocked out.

This year they put glue and toothpicks in the locks this year. They took glue and put “SENIORS 2012” on the walls.

Last year’s was awful. They put condoms everywhere.

You gotta love condoms. One year they filled them with lotion and threw them in random places. (C/O 2010)

The worst senior prank was the destruction of a porta-potty during a construction project on campus. My favorite were the pinwheels covering the lawn. One year hundreds of forks were stuck in the ground spelling out the year. Last year they painted the windows with words and the seniors were stuck for days cleaning them. And then there was the realtor’s for sale sign that showed up in front of the school. Humorous but the thief got into trouble. I think easy to remove “decorations” are really the best idea. And the least likely to get the seniors into trouble.
