Senior Residency Question

I am currently a 3rd year student with 102.1 semester units completed due in large part to AP credit (32.1 units).

After last semester, I passed 90 units and entered into senior standing. For Haas and all other majors, I see that the senior residency requirement stipulates that you must complete at least 24 of the remaining 30 units in residence at the University in at least two semesters. I am confused by what this actually means.

If I complete 14 more units to get to 116.1 this semester, will I be required to graduate after the next semester (i.e. Fall 2016) when I pass 120 units? That’s not necessarily a part of my plan at the time.

Moreover, I was entertaining the idea of taking 7 units abroad (not in residence) over the summer. Would that violate senior residency? Additionally, this would cause me to pass 120 units before the fall 2016 semester begins (and I still have a few major requirements left).

Sorry that this may seem like a dumb question for someone as far along the way as I am. More than anything else, I guess I want to know if I would be able to take 7 units abroad this summer and still graduate Spring '17.
