Senior year course selection advice for Barnard?

Hello! Thanks firstly for venturing to read my question. I’m in a bit of a dilemma. I only learnt about Barnard say 4-5 months ago(and then decided it was going to be my 1st choice reach school!).

As per my course planning earlier, I just knew that I wanted to go into the Social Sciences since I happened to enjoy writing. I wasn’t terrible in science or math but I didn’t really enjoy sciences! Now Barnard happens to ask for the most rigorous courses. I always took the hardest courses. People need 30 courses to graduate, but the time I will- I probably will have 33. Since I assumed I’d be going into the social sciences, I didn’t really take the sciences or math.

Next year I have: Statistics, English, Violin, World History, Law, Politics, World Issues, Economics and SAP(Sociology, Anthropology, Physiology) All courses that I know I will thoroughly enjoy!

I’ve got 4 years of English and 4 years of History covered for Barnard.

I took Statistics for Grade 12 instead of Advanced Functions and Calculus because they told me it was the “Social Science” Math. And I skipped grade 9 math and got promoted to grade 10 math so I would have 3 years of Math along with Statistics.

1)Should I take Advance Functions and Calculus, it would mess up my whole schedule?

I have two courses in Science for Grade 9 and 10. Thing is without taking sciences in grade 11, you can’t take physics, chemistry or biology in grade 12!
2)Should I study really hard and write SAT tests in the sciences? how many?

I moved to Toronto in Grade 9 and know Bengali and English well. So After my grade 9 French course, I never took it again. :frowning: So my language requirement is incomplete.

Social Science requirement should be okay.

My average right now is a 3.52 which is low for Barnard. What should I do?

Have a Good day!

You’re totally fine. Just do well in all your classes. You don’t need advanced math to impress them. Especially since you’re going into the social sciences and you’re taking SAP and Stats, which are the most applicable courses (as in, they ARE the social sciences and contingent fields). All the rest look very good and Barnard-y. I took Calculus in high school but it wasn’t the most advanced. I am not a math person.

Do not take a course that will mess up a schedule you love. If you are passionate about your courses, will do well in them, then you’ve got a GREAT schedule.
