So I have to make my schedule for next year soon, and I have 4 options for what I could do. (Don’t tell me to mix things from the three different options because I can’t due to times that things are offered!) But I’m really not sure what makes the most sense and I need some guidance haha
Option 1
AP Statistics
Honors Latin American Studies
AP Psychology
Honors Anatomy
AP English Literature & Composition
AP Calculus BC
Option 2
AP Chemistry
AP Physics C
Lunch
AP Psychology
PE/Health12
AP Language & Composition
AP Calculus BC
Option 3
AP Chemistry
Honors Latin American Studies
AP Psychology
PE/Health 12
AP Language & Composition
AP Calculus BC
Option 4
AP Physics C
Honors Latin American Studies
AP Psychology
PE/Health 12
AP Language & Composition
AP Calculus BC
Also I want to be a psychology major if that helps any!
Context is important. What previous science, social studies, and foreign language courses have you taken?
It looks like your schedules are have the following invariants:
AP calculus BC
AP psychology
Your choices would be:
AP English language or AP English literature
and three out of these:
PE / health (Is this a graduation requirement? If so, then you have to take it.)
AP statistics
honors Latin American studies
honors anatomy
AP chemistry
AP physics C
Would that be a correct description of your options?
Yes PE/health is a graduation requirement! I forgot to include it in the first list. And my courses for each of my 3 past years of high school have been. Also, I made a typo - I’m taking AP Literature next year and Language is next year. But yes other than that, that would be a correct description of my options. However, if I were to take either AP Chemistry or AP Physics I wouldn’t be able to take AP Statistics and vice versa.
Freshman

OOH, Psychology! That is interesting! Sorry about going off topic.
I think any of these schedules are okay in terms of rigor, if that is what you’re looking for. However, there are a few recommendations I would like to give.
I think Option 3 and 4 are the best options. Whichever you pick would be based on whether you have completed a year of bio, chem, and physics. (If you have not done physics, pick Option 4, if you have done Chemistry, pick Option 3.) If you have done a year in chem, bio, and physics, pick whichever interests you more! It may not be the best idea to double up AP Lab Sciences, especially AP Chemistry and Physics C. I’m just a sophomore, so I can be pretty gullible on this topic, as I have tons of questions about future classes. Therefore, who knows? I may end up hypocritically asking the same questions in the future. But I have heard it is very difficult to manage two AP Lab Sciences. Noting that your other courses are also very rigorous, I do not think this in your best interest. If you have heard from others that it is possible to do both AP Lab Sciences and do well, then definitely go for it! Either way, it’s brave to sign up for even one of them. Both are known to be very challenging.
Also, I think Option 2 is completely okay as long as you omit either AP Chem or AP Physics C, because I think it is important you eat lunch. However, if you do decide taking two AP Sciences is a good idea, it is the best choice.
I know I may not be very knowledgeable because I’m young, and my answer may be vague… so let me know if you want any more answers. I won’t know too much, but I’ll try my best to answer. Good luck.
(P.S. Sorry for going off topic. It’s really cool you took Honors Sociology in junior year! They only have regular Sociology for a semester at my high school, and I’m taking it right now and enjoying it very much. How was your experience in the class?)
You have the three sciences, including two at the AP level. So you do not really need more, unless you really want to take more.
Of the remaining options, statistics will be useful in social studies including psychology. However, you can take it in college (you may want a calculus based course).
The next level of Spanish may be helpful in case your college has a foreign language graduation requirement. Having a higher level in high school may allow you to start in a higher level in college and complete the requirement in fewer courses.
Check if any colleges of interest want to see an art or music course. Otherwise, it looks like you have the expected base covered, so you can choose the rest of your courses based on interest.
@anthonytheboy No this answer was super helpful! I am loving Sociology right now and its a dual enrollment course with a local college. Its definitely my favorite course this year and I had the option to take either this or AP Chemistry but I don’t regret my decision one bit.
@ucbalumnus Thank you so much! I can’t take the next level of Spanish without dropping down to regular English 12 so that really isn’t an option unfortunately, even though I want to take Spanish in college.
