Hi!
I am a senior and I will be attending Minnesota next year! I’m wondering how lenient UMN is about senior year grades? I am an A/B (pretty equal amount of each) student and have been accepted into Carlson. Half of my courses this year are AP. I am obviously straining to get the best grades possible but senioritis has done a number on me.
So yes! How lenient do you think the admissions office will be? I am super excited for college and my worst fear would be to have my admission rescinded. Thank you!
Standard policy is that past performance (by you) should reflect future results… so if your grades are sliding significantly, you’d be best served by talking to your guidance counselor ASAP and with their help, keep your University admissions counselor in the loop. And by significant, think a full point (i.e. down to 2.5 from a 3.5) or more.
The big colleges (Carlson, CBS and CSE) really frown on senioritis, and it’s common for them to investigate grade slippage or changes in enrollment. They have waiting lists for students willing to put in the effort, after all. They can show leniency at times, but not if it’s all dumped on them with your senior transcript.
@khidala thank you so much!
