I've searched through many posts regarding senior year grades but am still a little confused.

The 3.0 UW that I must maintain, is that 3.0 each semester or 3.0 by the end of the year?
And do I need MORE THAN 3.0 (> 3.0) or 3.0 OR MORE (>= 3.0)?

First semester, I took 5 APs (1 A, 1 C, and 3 B's) and an A in Wind Ensemble (band). Does that mean I'm "safe" as long as I maintain those grades for this final semester? If my calculations are correct, the A & C cancel out to 3.0 while each B is a 3.0 = 3.0; does Wind Ensemble count towards this GPA, which would result in a ~3.1?

Why not try for straight A's? If you're getting into UCLA, you've probably gotten them(or close) for the past 3 years, and chances are it'll be the last time you'll be seeing a 4.0 for the next few years.

i believe for UCLA and Cal is weighted and for other UCs its unweighted... im guessing that for UCLA admit caliber students 3.0 GPA weighted should be expected

Asura, I am trying for straight A's, but 1st Semester is already done with - can't change the past. Just want to know if those grades are enough since they ask you to notify them if your grades drop substantially.

tocollege, Sorry if I was unclear but I'm talking about rescinding, not initial acceptances.

3.0 unweighted average for UCLA, 3.0 unweighted per semester for Cal as far as i can tell. the other UCs use 3.0 weighted.

but really, just work like you did the rest of high school and there won't be a problem. it's like saying "I need a C on the final and still have a 90 in the class!" when you can just try for an A and guarantee that you keep an A (or other high grade)

Getting a 4.0 and a 3.8 UW GPA both semesters of senior years was one of my biggest regrets in high school (well, not really, because it was still incredibly easy).

Go for the 3.0. Spend the time that you aren't studying doing other more fun stuff.

Ranking wise, UCLA and Cal are higher than the other UCs...so it wouldn't make sense to make it 3.0 weighted (easier) for UCLA and Cal and 3.0 unweighted (harder) for the rest of the UCs...

Last year when I read the policies it was 3.0 unweighted for both semesters (average of both). But I would just call them and ask since xxflyxx heard firsthand differently

you know, i think im going to contact the office of admissions again. she told me first-hand, but ill double check by calling the office. this could seriously jepordize my admissions, i had 2.6unweighted, 3.6 weighted. and i received the supplemental application in feb. where i listed my first semester grades.
