Senior Year - How much will it cost you?

My economics teacher asked that a few days ago. We calculated our expected costs and, in the end, many realized that they'll have to spend at least $1000 on senior "activities" (e.g. SATs, college applications, prom, etc.) alone. My total turned out to be around $1100. Since I don't have a well-to-do family (extremely close to being classified as low-income) and it's so hard to find a job in my area, I'm in sort of a financial pickle.

So...how much are you going to spend this year, '09ers?

It will cost me around $2000 (tuition after scholarship is 1k, $200 for textbooks, 6 AP tests, probably some other stuff)(I managed to get a fee waiver for my SAT 2s and college apps though, so yay for me!).

This number may seem large, but the average student at my school has to pay the full tuition (13,000 + mandatory $3k laptop computer) and doesn't get fee waivers and doesn't get reduced rates and has to pay $600 for textbooks. Their sum total for senior year would probably be nearer $20,000! :0

edit -- lol, by the numbers we seem a tad poor, lol, but we have tons of disposable income (everything's been paid off already!), so life manages to be quite luxurious.

$60 senior dues that cover graduation costs et al. and ~60$ parking pass I think, $430 for AP tests [school pays for one of them, thanks a lot lol].. um.. that's all I can think of...

So $550. + unexpected costs :} Yay public school!

ahhh, aside from my tuition...
SAT/ACTs/APs (3) = about $400
Random/Miscellaneous Fees at School = $500
Applying to College = $250-350
Prom (if I go)= $400-500 (tickets are insanely expensive at my school)

^Somehow our junior dues covered prom fees for JR and SR year [they were 125 dolla lol]. Okay wait, senior dues were 100 dollars I lied...

way too much money...

my school is charging $200 to park in the parking lot this year. Ridiculous.

probably 200+, for all the small things like senior tshirt, yearbook, dues, etc...it's a little annoying.

~$340 for AP tests
~$600 for college apps (assuming 8 applications at around $60 each, plus 8 x $10 to send SAT scores)
Plus whatever small things come up...

So $1000+

Well. I don't know for sure costs, but these are the expenses.
2 AP Tests,
1 SAT sitting,
3 App fees,
Multiple senior shirts,
A year of football, basketball and baseball game tickets
$40 for the yearbook
All the senior "stuff", senior book, grad invites, graduation stuff, etc.
Book rentals are unreal. $300+
School supplies
Spring Break (hopefully going to Panama, and well, its not going to be cheap at all)
(2? If things stay this amazing) Proms. (two prom dresses, etc)
Homecoming

Not to mention the stuff i have to get in prep for college..

I have a feeling that could be way more than 1000. lol

i spent around $750:
$80 AP tests
$300 SATs, ACTs, sending fees
$150 college aps
$50 yearbook
$30 cap and gown
$10 school supplies
$10 class t-shirt
$20 class fee
$40 lunch
$10 senior ball
wow, i'm seeing parking passes at over a hundred dollars? I paid $2 per year to park at school.

^ yeah, my school has really expensive parking tickets; you pay about $250 and then have to walk about 10 minutes across traffic and play frogger. The good thing is that you can park on the street literally a minute away from school for FREE

Ah, my school's parking costs are $90, I think, but you need to have a carpool if you wish to park on campus... and not a single person lives near me!

I have to park in this shopping complex a little ways away and walk about half a mile (I just measured it on google earth! :D) to get to school... Not too bad, I guess.

3 AP Tests
1 SAT
5 College APPs
Prom Crap
Homecoming Crap
Senior Pics
Yearbook
Cap and Gown
Grad announcements
wow.

You should put dummies in your car :] Like those HOV-lane fakers always do. lol.

Okay well I forgot a ton of costs that everyone listed so I'll try and fix my list
$100-graduation stuff/cap and gown, etc
$60-parking pass
$60-yearbook
~$455-AP tests+SATII's if I ever get around to taking those lol
~$300-college apps
~$70-send SAT scores out to colleges and NMSF
$120-senior pics+sitting fee, et al.

$1165 total. Well for everything I could think of anyway.

But, alas, they don't. Oh well, I like walking, so the stroll to school isn't too bad in the mornings. :]

And lol, I think I missed out on photos and measurements and stuff, or something. I was supposed to go somewhere to get that done, I think, and I never went. :0

^For some reason we didn't even do measurements for cap and gown... they were like "tell us your height and weight and that'll do it"
Um. that'll be interesting to see what sizes everyone gets.. lol.

Haha, I meant to say "..because I can drive alone in the latter," in my previous post. Fail goes to me.

Does your school do class rings? Mine does, and they're incredibly overpriced, haha. The cheapest one is $300, and all it is is a steel ring (with an engraving, lol) with a piece of colored glass (yes, glass) on top. The most expensive is like $600, but the only real difference between it and the cheap one is that it, I think, is made sterling silver (:0 it's not like a drive to mexico couldn't net me the same thing for $15, or anything)

Hahah

Yeah we were supposed to buy class rings JR year but I didn't because they were ~400 dollars and I'd much rather have an actually good-looking ring instead of a crappy class ring that I'll never wear once I graduate.

Around $25,000.. O.o

Does your school really charge you to park there!? Wow

I guess we're even considering our yearbooks cost over $100.
