Trying to navigate through potential schedule conflicts and want to make sure we are not missing anything. Potential Major as Applied Mathematics /Data Science
Current Schedule
AP Foreign Lang
AP CALC BC
AP Stats
AP Comp Science
Honors English
Honors Religon
Physics
Currently Physics is throwing things off, Honors Physics will conflict with CALC BC, also was looking to take an intro Philosophy Class but that conflicts too
One option is to take intro to Physics at the local college over the summer as well. Any downside to that?
The one thing that stands out to me is having no history course.
Is there another level of physics that works in the schedule?
The one down side to physics during the summer is the pace is going to be super quick. Some students struggle with the compressed time.
@momofboiler1 - He’s taking APUSH this year and coming from a Catholic HS will also end up with 4 years of religion as additional Social Science courses.
Great point about taking Physics in the summer. That seems like a lot to cram into a short session
I would check the schools on your student’s list to see the minimum requirements. Some of my D’s schools didn’t care about level of history, but wanted 3 years. Some were even more specific and wanted to see government.
(My D also went to a catholic HS with 4 years of religion but it didn’t seem like that was a substitute for history. My D took AP Euro, APUSH, and DE Gov.)
Ditto. What history/social studies classes has the student had in high school so far? If the student hasn’t had some version of world history and some version of civics/free enterprise, then I would then have them added. If he’s already completed those 3 units of history, then maybe a school might count religion as a 4th social studies, but it’s iffy.
